Follow-up From Consultation: Photos - Thu, Jan 8th, 2009 ello
It was nice to meet you. We hope you find a solution to your hair loss
problem. Anyway, here is a copy of your photos of areas of thinning and
baldness. We will keep your small mold on file until you are ready to
order. Because you continue to lose hair at the top of your scalp I
might suggest that you purchase a larger system to cover the area around
your crown/top of scalp area. In my years of experience it is my
professional opinion that you should build one larger so that everything
looks more natural from the front of your forehead to the back of your
scalp. We want you to look good and thats why you came to see us because
you know that we are capable of doing that for you.
Take care,
Maria-Elissa & Brian
I Have Gone Through Chemotherapy - Mon, Jan 5th, 2009 Hi,
I have gone through chemotherapy and surgery and am contemplating
a real hair lace wig as my hair is not growing in as thick or in the same pattern.
I have had synthetic wigs and find them constricting and heavy.
Do you carry real hair wigs and/or lace wigs?
Can these be cut and colored like ones own hair?
I am finding it difficult to get professional help in this area. Hope you can!!
Regards,
"J"
PS. What price range are we talking about?
Hi "J";
Your question is very similar to some other inquiries so, if you don't
mind,
I'll just send you a "cut and paste" of an earlier response. Maria is
the best
in the West and you'll enjoy meeting her. You can do anything with our
systems
(cut and colour) as you can with "real hair". We would match the colour with
your desired colour as part of order. Anyway, here's the response:
Thanks for contacting us. Our free consultation appointments roughly
takes anywhere from 1 and 1/2 hours to 2 hours to go through everything.
Now depending on your current hair loss, the system itself can cost
anywhere from $700 and up to $2200 depending on the size of the area,
the length of the hair, your custom mold, density, color etc etc.
We use only the highest grade of human hair available. We are
substantially 50% less in price than in Vancouver and throughout the
Lower Mainland. Maria previously was a very popular hair loss technician
in Vancouver and it is common practice to "A La Carte" everything to
death. For example, the salon would charge up to $250 just for Maria to
complete the final "cut-in" and style of the new system.
Once I quote you, that's the price, no hidden fees or extra charges, no
bait and switch, Absolutely no surprises.
Once I see you, I will be able to quote after doing your mold and you
can decide if you want to go through with the purchase or not. What you
should be looking for is the fit, the comfort, the way the system is
built and the feel of the hair.
Anyway, I can show you other client's systems that are stored here. We
have a sample for you to see but it would not be the colour, size or
other features we would design for you specifically. You should know our
systems can be worn 24/7 very comfortably whereas a regular wig may trap
heat and moisture. The hair is hand tied so that hair will part
naturally. It is virtually undetectable.
If you are shopping around for this type of hair system, please see us
before making your final decision. We know we are the best in pricing,
quality and technical expertise. All of our consultations are
appointment only and we usually book at least a week in advance. If you
are interested in the free consultation, please call me.

I can't wait over 6 weeks! Cancel My Appointment! - Sat, Dec 12th, 2009 This client cancelled her appointment but subsequently purchased a wig from another source to save the 6 - 8 weeks delivery time. Afterwards she rebooked wih us as she found the wig she purchased to be too "wiggy" looking and very uncomfortable. This story has a happy ending as we delivered a system to her that she is extremely happy with. Now she knows from personal experience the difference between a wig and a hair system.
Here is the exchange:
I have been thinking about our phone conversation. I need the wig now
not 6 weeks from now so I am going to cancel my appointment on Jan.10
at 10a.m. Thankyou for your time. Marg
Hi Marg;
I understand your predicament - You most likely would like to have a wig
for Christmas and your Las Vegas trip.
As you have alopecia, you will likely want a hair system you can wear
for extended periods.
If you haven't worn wigs before, you won't know the difference in
comfort and "look" until you start wearing them.
There are two wig stores in Vancouver that we recommend for high quality
pieces: Abantu on Kingsway and Eva & Co. on West Broadway. You should be
able to purchase a good wig - machine made, for $300 to $500. There are
also some good wig stores in Las Vegas.
If you wear the wig daily, it should last 3 to 4 months and still look
okay.
Here's the difference you'd find with our hair system:
- Best quality human hair (we would explain the difference in quality
but it has to do with the processing and number of cuticles retained in
the processing). The better the quality, the longer the hair will last -
look and feel soft and natural.
- Hand tied (this is what takes so long). Each hair is specially
knotted. The frontal hairs have "baby" type hair knotted so that the
hair system is undetectable from anyone viewing close up at the front.
Back hairs are knotted with stronger knots for strength and top hairs
use a special knot so that they appear to be growing from your scalp.
- The base is designed to fit your head only. We make a mold of your
head and the wigmaster builds the base on this mold so that it
eliminates air pockets which trap heat, moisture and bacteria. This is
why our systems are so comfortable and have none of the "bulkiness"
associated with wigs.
- Our prices include "cut-in" plus any colouring to your own hair so
that you do not pay any additional charges after the order.
- The hair system will last 2 to 3 years and will look lovely the entire
time.
I would recommend that you still see us after you purchase your wig so
that you can know the difference between what we provide and what a wig
is limited to.
I'll go ahead and cancel your appointment. Still hope to see you though.

Brian Jaggard

wondering if you could give me an idea of the prices. I am coming to Langley on the 30th of Dec.
And would like to try some on. Please get back to me. Thanks. Marg

Cost of toupee repair - Wed, Dec 3rd, 2008 Please let me know how long it takes to process the hair addition on a toupee I have.
I need them within the period of 2 weeks. I am wondering if it is possible.
And what's the cost for repair? Please let me know as soon as possible. Thank you.
John from NJ, US.
Hi John;
You're in New Jersey?
Our salon is in Langley, British Columbia, Canada.
We usually send our systems to the original manufacturer for hair adding
and that takes about 3+ weeks including courier time. You should be able
to find someone who can do the repairs and hair adding locally.
We charge approx. $50/hr. for the hair adding/repairs.

Brian Jaggard
Question: Cost for front lace wig, 18" length - Sun, Dec 7th, 2008 hello, my names Lee i want a full lace front wig, because i dont want to be able to see
any of my hair i want it to part any way. how much are they. im caucasion too, and my hair
is now brown but i would want the wig thing in blond would that work, plesae explain. ansering
my questions, and a price. the lenght would be 18inch
Hi Lee;
We can make you a full lace front wig that would be exactly how you want
it.
Maria does a consultation with you and together you design how you want
the hair system to look - it can be any colour you like. It's difficult
to quote you an exact price because that depends on the size, and
density - we determine that during the consultation. You should know
that we only supply the best quality hair, bases, materials, etc.
Despite that, our prices are lower than any other similar custom,
made-to-order system because we keep our costs down (we buy directly
from the factory, do our own design work, do not hire sales people, low
advertising, etc.). Also 50% of how good you are going to look depends
on the hairdressing skills of the technician. Maria is the best in the
business and every client comes away extremely satisfied. You should
check out our testimonial book!
As for price, the range for women is typically 1275 to 2275. Most of our
hair systems would cost over 3000 at a Vancouver hair loss salon.
If you have any more questions, don't hesitate to ask or you can book a
free consultation by calling me at 604-534-5049.

I Have Fine Hair and Resorted to Wearing a Wig - Wed, Feb 25th, 2009 I was drawn to your website- my hair has always been very fine but I have managed with
a good hair cut and lots of color and steaking. I have now reached a point when this is
not working. Three months ago I resorted to wearing a wig, I am not that happy with it
but I don't think of my hair 24/7 as I use to. I would like to have a really good solution to
my hair problem and I am hopeful that you can provide it for me. When you talk of a
consultation, do you do anything on that day or do you have to come back.
I am new to the Vancouver area, having moved here in December 2008.
Do you have Saturday appointments?
I look forward to hearing from you.
"G"
Hi "G" - yes we do have Saturday appointments. We close on Sundays and Tuesdays.
Maria is also a colour expert so she can match the hair system to your existing hair.
Since you still have your own hair, albeit thin, it would probably be best to integrate with
your own hair.
On the day of the consultation, we can show you some client photos with a similar condition
as yours. We can have you try on a sample - although it won't match your colour, density,
curl pattern, etc. This is just to give you and idea of the comfort as well as so you know how
to put it on and take it off. Maria will make a mold of your head and then we can quote a price.
If you decide to go ahead or go home to think about it, either is fine. If you go ahead, it takes
about 6 to 8 weeks to make and then you need to come back to have it cut and styled to blend
with your own hair. All service work, products, hair system, cut-in and follow-up is included in
the price quote on the day of your consultation.
If you read the testimonial section of the website, you'll have some idea of what effect these
systems have on our clients.
We do have one appointment available for 10 am this Saturday - this is unusual since she
usually books about a week in advance. I am just leaving for the gym now but will check
for your email later. To book the appointment, I need to set up a client profile for you so we
would need to speak on the phone.
I'm looking forward to hearing from you and I think you'll really love meeting Maria.
Best regards,
Brian Jaggard

We Are The Best Because We Care The Most - Mon, Feb 9th, 2009 This section is meant to become an archive of commonly asked questions and information regarding hair loss, wigs, toupees and hair systems.
Many of the questions you may ask are already answered in our TESTIMONIALS SECTION at the bottom of the page. Many of the FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS can be found by clicking on the small question mark "?" at the top of this page.
Living with hair loss is a continuous education. Even for Maria and I at Maria Jaggard Salon. You can see from the Photo Section that we always strive to keep current with the technology and the art of hair loss and hair styles. Last year we took several international trips to inspect potential suppliers - direct to you pricing is one of our key advantages. Although Maria is a qualified, registered cosmotologist in British Columbia, she believes that the art of hair and styling is a life-long project. Don't get us wrong either - we always ensure we have a little bit of fun along the way. Check out our PHOTO SECTION at the bottom of the page to see what we've been up to lately.
Speaking of fun...Maria and I recently took our work to Hawaii this January 2009. What bride wouldn't like to have her own personal hairdresser for a Maid of Honour? Check out the incredible look of our Hothead Hair Extensions in the HAIR EXTENSIONS FOR WEDDING album of the PHOTO SECTION. Hair weaving is OUT (more about that in another bog) Hotheads Hair Extensions are IN!
Welcome to our new website - Wed, Feb 4th, 2009 Congratulations on finding the new Maria Jaggard Salon website. I've been updating and adding content I feel is relevant to those who have questions about hair loss or are looking for a solution. However, nothing I say is more powerful than the words of our clients. Please take a moment and CHECK OUT OUR TESTIMONIAL PAGE.
Last year, Maria and I were discussing how this industry really lacks the usual "word of mouth" advertising so important to the service industry. Our testimonials are all kept in a book in our salon. I did my best to copy EXACTLY what our clients wrote in the book or sent us by email. Any client is welcome to view the testimonial book themselves and see that these are all 100% real statements by our clients.
We have an excellent cross-section of testimonials. They include clients suffering hairloss from male and female pattern baldness - most common. Alopecia - second most common and also from the effects of cancer treatment such as radiation and chemotherapy.
We have had a large number of clients who are undergoing treatment for breast cancer. This is the one exception to what I earlier mentioned about "word of mouth". Somewhere along the way, we have enough of our clients who are attending support groups and the word is now getting out to the community that Maria Jaggard Salon has the best solution to hair loss due to cancer and chemotherapy. Remember our consultations are currently no charge and Maria is a fantastic person to meet.
Whatever your concerns for hairloss, balding, or thinning, Maria Jaggard Salon has the experience and the solutions for you. Find the next thing on your list to worry about because after you become our client, you'll no longer need to worry about your hair.
